An electronic vaporizer is an electronic devise that simulates smoking tobacco. It usually consists of a battery, an ionic power source like a lithium battery, and a plastic tank or cartridge. Instead of smoke, however, the user smokes electronic vapor instead. As such, using an e-arette is frequently described as “smoking” instead of “smoking”. The term “e-liquid” is sometimes used interchangeably with “juice”.
Most electronic cigarettes utilize nicotine, propylene glycol (propyl), or methanol (pentahydroxyalkyl) as their flavoring substances. Nicotine has a higher rate of absorption than most of the other ingredients and produces relatively lower concentrations of tar and toxic gaseous matter than does tar from a cigarette. Propylene glycol is similar to the flavorings found in lotions and creams. It has lower concentrations of carcinogens and cancer-causing agents than does glycol at a concentration level of five percent or less.
The nicotine and propylene glycol is metabolized by the body into certain chemicals. Some of these chemicals become airborne when the e-liquid is smoked. Others are absorbed through the lining of the mouth and into the bloodstream. Because of these volatile ingredients, electronic cigarettes are not suitable for people with respiratory problems like asthma. The inhalation of the vapor can also cause inflammation of the throat or mouth and may cause nausea, loss of taste, and throat irritation.
Electronic cigarettes do not release any smoke, so they do not release any toxins into the air. This is different from smoking, where some of the toxins are released into the atmosphere. E-liquids do not contain nicotine, so there is no danger in vaporizing the e-liquid and inhaling the smoke. When compared with cigarettes, they have much less harmful tar and carbon monoxide. Tar and other harmful chemicals in smoke can cause cancer in the long-term.
E-liquid, on the other hand, does not contain nicotine. Inhaling the vapor can cause a pleasant throat hit similar to that of drinking a glass of water. But the throat hit does not last very long. By the time the vapor dissipates, you will feel your throat tighten up and have to breathe more slowly. This is not a bad thing, but because vapor does not contain nicotine, it poses little danger in the long run.
Manufacturers of the e-liquids state that their products do not contain any tobacco, which may be true, but the ingredients may still contain other harmful chemicals that would be dangerous to someone who is a smoker. Many e-liquids do not list the ingredients, so it is up to you to read the list carefully. The tobacco and tar-like ingredients that are found in tobacco are often listed as “essential oils,” but these are actually synthetic chemicals used to give the e-liquid its specific flavor.
In addition to the dangerous ingredients listed above, some e-liquids contain synthetic organic chemicals such as propylene glycol. Propylene glycol is a highly abrasive and poisonous chemical. It was banned from being included in food products in the European Union, because it is carcinogenic in nature. Many manufacturers of e-liquids claim that the ingredients in their products do not pose a health risk, but this is untrue.
Nicotine patches and gum are another method of quitting smoking that does not use e-liquids. Nicotine is a highly addictive substance, which means that it is highly difficult to stop smokers from using it. For this reason alone, many experts advise that people who smoke should at the very least try to find an alternative way to go about their daily rituals. E-liquids are by no means a perfect solution, but they can significantly reduce the harm they cause.
